2013 Martin D-28 Authentic 1931

This stunning Martin D-28 Authentic 1931 is nearly an exact reproduction of the original D-28 dreadnought. Constructed entirely with hot hide glue and premium materials, this Authentic is as close as one can possibly get to having an acoustic guitar "time machine."
If Martin could have built this Authentic using Brazilian rosewood, it would be a 100% identical reproduction of the original. But the premium Madagascar rosewood is a very close substitute. Who knows? After 70 or 80 years of aging, the guitars built with Madagascar might turn out to be more desirable than their Brazilian counterparts.
This example was built in 2013, which means it pre-dates Martin's introduction of the "VTS" (vintage tone system) guitars, where the tops have been thermally aged. Personally, I am a big fan of the VTS tops, but I can also appreciate the advantages of allowing the tops to age naturally and gradually.
When you strum an open chord on this guitar, its rich sound envelops you and you can feel its power reverberate throughout your abdomen. It is VERY lightly built, and you will be astonished at the weight and balance when you pick it up. It is lighter than any other rosewood dreadnought I have ever played. Which makes it ideal for getting a big sound while lightly fingerpicking.
I'm not much of a bluegrass picker, but I know enough to say with confidence that this guitar has enough punch to hang with the most powerful D-28's and D-18's that are out there.
If you can get along with the wider neck (1 7/8" nut), then this guitar might be as close as one can get to owning a "do everything" guitar.
This particular example is in very good condition. It has no cracks, dents, or dings anywhere and the finish is nearly flawless, with only the faintest swirl marks on the top and pickguard to evidence that it has ever been played.
There are only two issues that must be disclosed. First, there is some binding separation at the waist of the guitar. It is very minor and one could easily own the guitar for months without noticing the issue. This issue can be easily fixed by a luthier. I just haven't taken the time to do it.
Second, the finish on the back of the neck has been sanded to a slick satin finish. In my opinion, it is now superior to the original factory finish. Otherwise, the neck is in like new condition.
Comes in the original Martin "Geib" style case which is also in excellent condition. (photos of case will be added soon)
